[movies]Super Mario World - Xbox emulated run in 0:10:47 - Andrew McKinlay - Andrew McKinlay
Speed run of Super Mario World done on xsnes9x Super Nintendo emulator for Xbox, does not count as official record for SMW. Author's comments: This run was extremely lucky in two areas, 1. That i didn't die by that stupid stump thing in the first castle. 2. That i didn't choke on that lame water level like i always do. I'm never going to play this game ever again, as I officially became a complete loser this summer having played this game waaaaaay too much...

[movies]God of War (PS2) Speed Run (2:50)
Speed Run of Playstation 2's "God of War" By: Prism Completed October 1, 2005 17 segments You'll see me do two things many, many times throughout the run: roll-cancel and saw. Roll-canceling is when you roll, then do an action (like hit square), but then roll again before it gets started. Doing this lets Kratos travel across the ground much faster than walking. A varation of this is roll->R2 (dash)->(repeat); this has the added benefit of letting you steer Kratos during the dash move...

[movies]Umihara Kawase (SNES) - 13:15 (Japan version, emulated run) - Eric Stratmann (aka. Bob Whoops)
This game is about a schoolgirl with a bag of holding and a rubber fishing line setting out to rid the world of giant mutant fish. This video plays the longest path of the game having only two bosses. The boss levels are quite long in this movie - they can't really be sped up, but the author of the movie has done his best to make it worth watching. No frogs were harmed in the making of this movie.

This is an improved version - 72 seconds faster than previously. Most of the improvement comes from heavy abuse of luck to get blue and pink potions when they are most useful. In this game you're an armor-clad knight with a big sword. You collect gems to bribe a red knight, kill evil beasts and rescue several "distressed damsels". Walker Boh completes the game shorter than anyone imagined, and discovered a few nice tricks / glitches...

This game is about a schoolgirl with a bag of holding and a rubber fishing line setting out to rid the world of giant mutant fish. Actually, it's more like a little-known Japanese wire-action platformer (like Bionic Commando or Ninja Five-O) with a small but rabid fan following. Like Ikaruga, the game is very easy to win, but very difficult to play. This video demonstrates one of the fastest paths to the ending, including quite a few almost impossible maneuvers - whether playing tool-assisted or...

[movies]Wrath of the Black Manta (NES) - 10:37 (US version, emulated speedrun) - Hans Olsson (aka. Walker Boh)
In this game you are supposed to hunt down an evil crime syndicate (so what else is new?) by freeing kids from blocks of ice, and capturing the red guys to get clues. Unfortunately the ninja didn't have time for that, he just walks past all baddies and kills the bosses. This syndicate turns out to be selling drugs, but the Black Manta sets them straight: "Drugs kill you think you're cool but you're not." Yeah! Or, as Nifboy put it: "Well, here's an improvement to the Sliding Hell, also known as Quackshot." This video is more than a minute and a half faster than the previous Quack Shot video. The improvements consists both of more sliding in different places and a slightly better route in the Tiger Castle, as well as the discovery of some neat bugs...

[movies]Rygar (NES) - 21:07 (Europe version, emulated run) - Hans Olsson (aka. Walker Boh)
This timeattack is different from the other Rygar timeattack in that it plays all levels and doesn't use the boss-warp glitch. Unlike the previous versions of the full (ie. deathless) run, this one makes full use of all the bugs and glitches in the game which can be used to speed up the run. Note: Famtasia plays PAL games at NTSC speed, that is 16.7% too fast. Thus the AVI is significantly faster than the movie should actually be.

The driving and FPS levels are mostly autoscrolling, so to make them interesting I aimed to get 100% kills and 100% items. This goal was achieved in levels 1 and 4, but not in 10 and 11; I was able to do this in level 10 in version 1, but this time a few more (unhittable) enemies were added, which I could do nothing about. As for level 11, you *could* get 100% items but that would waste time...killing the last enemy ends the level, so that needs to be done ASAP...

For more details, see http://tasvideos.org/201M.html This movie completes the PAL Rygar with only one item: the grappling hook. And what an awesome movie it is: it demonstrates as many glitches of the game as possible. Some of the glitches save time radically, some save a little of time, and some don't save time at all but just look cool. It uses death as a shortcut, but in contrary to the usual, this death does not put Rygar backwards in the game, but instead warps him forward by a couple of le...

In v1 I manipulated luck solely for my own advantage. In this version, I also manipulate luck in order to help the other team out, which can be a bit difficult (e.g. the long interception return.)
